already as a child i turned out to be a pretty musical character and my parents helped me in a somewhat dubious way learning to play some intruments, but mainly i'm an autodidactic musician and producer (in the meantime i'm also skilled as media-designer for audio/video- pretty helpful!)
for 10 years i played in about 15 bands of many different styles: funk, soul, reggae ,ska , but also punk, wave and hardcore, but I was fed up with the very social factors in band music playin', so i started turntabling end of '93, spinning house and acid, 'cuz I was into techno partyin' back then. changed back to breakbeat-styles in '95, because I like dancing to syncopated beats much more. i'm a poly-rhythmatic addict...so my main ingredients for the mix are funky breakbeatz, drum&bass, hiphop, latin-house and nu-skool electro. i've developed some kind of wildstyle out of scratchings, beatjuggling- and mixing-techniques, but i try to be very exact in recent times...
dope beats need dope ingredients! they kept me upright while hundreds of partygigs, theater- and bandgigs over the last four years, e.g.my "dionysos- baachanten"-production in amsterdam in october - december 1999. I've fitted the whole compilation of the mix in co-operation with elles plejter and stage designer roger löffler and performed as dj and actor within the play.
in april of 2k i started my first weekly in cologne. the "vinyl thrillchills piri chili kill filles", which are now well known for high quality music and social dj-coproductions!
i was mainly working out the soundtrack for cologne theater-production licht!theater "sacred chicken" (premiere:09/27/2k @ gebaeude9), which was the second part of their trilogy with "skalpell!" and "ignaz-cofederacy.de". synergetically i worked out the weekend parties "chicken shake!" at gebaeude9 and artheater with the help of the electric-boogee crew.
in september I founded another weekly on wednessdays."birthdays" at k-filmhaus in the socalled "haifischbecken", which were a nice cologne cult action.
sessions of four turntables or one-on-ones with turntablists dj arson (tonson.de / bielefeld), dr. dns (ohrkost / aachen), elektrozyt (astrogir l/ tonson.de/cologne) global breakz (electric- boogee / tonson.de / cologne) and doc smuggles (tonson.de / cologne) during the last year brought an immense quality of vibe. and finally brought us to work out another step: tonson.de !
